Dr Paul Toyne leads the global architecture and urban design practice Grimshaw on sustainability. He oversees their goals of net zero carbon ready designs by the end of 2025 and regenerative designs by 2030. Paul is a board member of the British Aviation Group. He has worked in the aviation sector has included stakeholder community management; sustainable design and construction; and developing sustainability strategies for airports. Between 2010-2024, Paul was a London Sustainable Development Commissioner. Since 2013 Paul has been part of the UK’s Green Construction Board’s infrastructure Working Group. Paul has held non-executive director positions and has been an independent adviser to energy, water and product manufacturing sectors, as well climate change charities. Paul has a PhD in ecology from Imperial College and has a butterfly he discovered in Ecuador named after him.
