Roly is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health and leads the Health, Safety & Wellbeing strategy across Heathrow’s capital investment programmes, ensuring safety is embedded from design through to operation and maintenance.

He joined Heathrow in 2015 as a safety advisor in the Airside Landside team, following a 27-year role at Mars in Slough, where he helped improve manufacturing lines and design facilities—including the ice cream plant in Strasbourg. A workplace accident during a project led Roly to refocus his career on safety, driven by a belief that it must be designed into every process.

As a judge for New Civil Engineer’s Innovation Awards, Roly believes that empowering early careers professionals to innovate is essential for creating a safer, more sustainable future in construction and engineering.
